What the heck is a "woodchuck"?

SAMMY

Miles would like to thank efurryone for the purrfday wishes. He's a little hung over this morning - too much fun and too much food yesterday.

We hadded some 'citement last night in the back yard. There's a woofie that lives behind us named Dutchess. She was outside running back and forth for no reason, as woofies do, when this THING waddled across the yard. It was really short and really fat and all brown. It was so fat that it's stomach dragged on the ground. Dutchess started barking really loud and getting all 'acited, and the fat thing kept waddling towards her. It got about halfway between our patio and their patio and stopped, and Dutchess ran forward really fast, then jumped really high into the air and yelped really loud. It was so funny. Mommy said that she has an "invisible fence" around her house so that she doesn't run away, and it "zaps" her when she gets too close. I gues she forgotted 'about it, 'acause she jumped really really high. It even scared the fat brown thing and it waddled away. Mommy said it was called a "woodchuck". I don't know what that is, does anyone have "woodchucks" in their yards?

How ya doin' Miss Trixie?

I'll trade ya an arm-me-dillo for a woodchuck.

We have all types of critters come into our yard cuz we live next to some woods where dees wild critters live. I's seen foxes and snakes and one time we even seen a bear! Momma and I were lookin out da window on sunday and we saw us a black snake sniggle across the hard grey grass outside. I wanted to go play wif it and Momma said NO! I coulda whipped that snake I knows it.

Dats funny 'bout the woodchuck...what does a woodchuck do? Chuck wood?

Sammy, has your Momma got her GRE results?

Boy that sure was fun at Miles party yesterday!

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck, could chuck wood?

Whatever does that mean, Mom?

No, we have nothing like that, that I have seen anyway. Do you think that woodchuck will get up firewood, maybe?

I dunno what a woodchuck is. It sounds funny looking. Both funnies. Funny ha ha and funny weird. I'll keep an eye out in case I see one.

Woodchuck, schmoodchuck. I think it sad that the dog learned such a "shocking" lesson. I cried so hard, I laughed.

That's the expression, right?

I've never seen a woodchuck. Are they like squirrels? There's lots of squirrels around here and sometimes a chipmunk. And birds. There's a big old crow that Momma says is almost as big as I am.

I feel badly for the Woofie and getting shocked.

Nah, woodchucks is more like beevers 'cept without the paddle tail. We gots them here. We hear some people who live near ponds will get a woodchuck taking residence under their deck. Usually they get a live trap from the DNR & Woodie gets released into nature again.

We have lots of woodchicks here, too. Our beans are really weird because they LIKE woodchucks. When they drive in the car, they look for for them. If Mum or Dad spot one, they say " Marmot" real loud and excited. Marmot is a fancy name for wood chuck. The beans don't have an outdoor garden. If they did, I don't think they'd like 'chucks so much...

Yup, we've got a big ol' woodchuck (or groundhog, as we call 'em here in Pennsylvania) in our backyard. Been here for a couple of years. Won't let hisself be caught. Dad gets SO mad about it, too!

Squirrels, chipmunks, birds, even a vole also live in our yard.

I'm a city kitty. All we have here are some birdies that land on the fence some times.

Yes! Bonnie says there was one in our yard two years ago. It dug holes under our shed cuz we have no woofie. Mom says Woodchucks are also Groundhogs (but they don't look like pigs or ham) an sum beans call them Whistlepigs! It ate Mom's whole broccoli (not Kukka's bro) in 2 bites. And we live in the city, too!

I've never seen a woodchuck, either. Is your mom sure it wasn't my sister Olivia the little piglet eating machine with the kangaroo in her? Her stomach could drag on the ground.

(Oops, my mom says I'm being all mean.)

Good bye my sweet Nicky
