Good News

SAMMY

HOORAY! Edselsmom made it through her surgery well! Check out his blog!

Also, it is our good Meezer furriend Chatham's 19th purrthday today. He's having a party at his place - please stop ofur and give him purrthday wishes!

We have been having a visitor from Virginia here since Saturday. Her name is Ellen and she is Mommy's bestest furriend. Norton used to love her furry much and would let her hold him when he would not even let Mommy hold him. Trixie loves her furry much too. Miles has been acting like his little attention hogging self around her when Mommy is at werk. Me, however, I don't like new people in my house. I have been hiding under the bed and only coming out to eat if she is out of the house or if I can figure out a way to get to the food dish wifout having to see her. She seems to be furry nice and wants to pet me, but I don't know why I won't let her. I get all shaky and nervous and have to hide under somefing.
Are any of you ofer kitties like that? Any suggetions on how I can not be so nervous around her? She's staying until next Sunday! I would like to walk around the house wifout being scairt.

My brofurs Ping & Jinx are just like you. They don't like udder beans and they go hidey when new beans come in. Some poodins are just shy and not good 'round new beans. I know Miss Ellen is a nice bean, just give her a chance and I know you would like her.

Should her how sweet and lovable you are becuz you are my Sweetest Sammy!

Brach hides ALL THE TIME! Recently, he's been making appearances when guests have been over, but only the ones he is used to.

Otherwise, you'll find him as a lump under the bedspread, under the bed, in the bathtub, or in his perch on the shelf in the spare-room closet.

Me? I roll over on my back and beg for belly rubs before they even get in the door. Mom calls me her "Love Slut."

That's a compliment, right?

Beans are scary. I'm really only used to our Mum and Dad. We run and hide-Toby to the back of the closet and I race for the study. After a while, though, I come out to see what's going on. Sometimes, I'll let the visitor pet me, before I run away again.

I hate strangers and never try to get to know new people so sorry I can't help you Sammy ~Shadow

We are attention hogs and shamelessly love on any new people who come over to prove it ~Merlin & Ko Ko

Ellen just needs to sit quietly and let you go to her. I had a cousin Sphinxie who was scared of everybody, too. Many people didn't even know that my aunt had a cat living with her!

I'm not scared of anything, but my brother Salem is scared of EVERYthing! But he will eventually come out if all is calm and quiet.

Mittens, no, that is not nice! Tell Sammy that you are like that too, many kitties are.

We don't have the solution....Mittens seems to get better as the days go on, less timid. Sorry, Mittens was rude!!!

We don't like people we don't know, either. Maybe if you just watch her from a safe distance, after a few days, you'll be able to relax.

Just hide under the bed or a chair while she's awake and then howl all night until you wake everyone up. Sooner or later she'll go home and think twice about coming back -- Alberta

Isis just hides on our human pet's bed. She thinks that she is "too good" to come out and play. I don't think you're like that, though, Sammy.

Our mom always does what Cheysuli suggests. When she catsits a shy cat she just sits on the floor near wherever the kitty is hiding and quietly reads a book. No moves to the kitty, but sometimes talks in a low, quiet voice. If kitty comes out, no reach out to pet him, she lets the kitty come to her and sniff her scent first. It's all built on trust.

Sitting down on the floor is good. That is what I do with Mistrie.......she seems more afraid when I stand up, I must seem huge to her.

I also put a litter box upstairs for Mittens when we have company and food and water so she doesn't have to come down if she doesn't want to. She finally is used to my boys, when they come over, after 6 years!!
