Miles has a Emergency

Update Number 2: Meezer Mom here:
First, thank you so much for all of your donations and kind words and thoughts and prayers. They mean so much to us. Miles is back from the v-e-t and for the first time in 12 years of going to this animal hospital I am disappointed. The v-e-t Miles saw today was the same one he saw the last time he had this problem and she still has no idea what is wrong with him. She sad that she would not draw more blood because the FIP test 18 months ago was negative, and that was her only thought as to a diagnosis this time too. She said to watch him closely and bring him back in 4 days At that time they will do a series of about 8-10 xrays, and more blood tests. (note: Miles was in the middle of a pee fest so maybe she didn't want to stress him out more now. who knows.) But for now I have to watch to see how much he eats and drinks and if he’s tipping over to the same side every time he tips over. So we will be going back on Tuesday (another note: if one of the senior vets is in tomorrow, we may go back then). He may need to see a neurologist. and have a cat scan.
Oh and Miles peed on the dr and 2 assistants

UPDATE: Miles has a 3:30 'pointment ('acuase it's surgery day at the hospital so there are no 'pointments 'till after lunch and the 'mergency vet said it was at least a 4 hour wait there) but mommy can bring him in at noon for them to watch him 'till 3:30. Miles don't want to go AT ALL. He will not come out from unner the bed - he akshually HISSED at mommy 'acuase she wanted him to come out. I think I have to go unner the bed and kick his furry butt.

Hello Efurryone - Sammy here.

Miles is furry furry sick - he cannot walk straight and whenefur Mommy picks him up he hollers. Mommy has to take him to the v-e-t, which means that she has to miss a day of werk. She doesn't haf a lot of green papers to pay for any tests or anyfing, so please purray for us that the v-e-t will take a payment plan and help Miles get better. We is furry furry werried about Miles. Remember the last time he hadded this prollem they v-e-t was werried that he had FIP, and he hadded to haf lots and lots of blood tests. Please purray for us.

but she wants him back in 4 days to TAKE blood????!!!!!! Now that's a way to make money :/
Let's hope that "4 days" make a difference!!!!! If she does not know what's wrong, she should admit it. Why could she not take blood and have you watch him for 4 days?
We will all purr like crazy for Miles. He deserves that!!!!!! He's our buddy :)
Purrs Mickey,Georgia & Tillie

Gemini and Ichiro said...

I have to say I wonder about the whole draw blood thing in four days. What will change between now and four days?

Our purrs to you and to Miles. We've learned a great deal about vestibular disease as that was one potential diagnosis for Georgia and while they SAID they ruled it out, now that she's surpassed all known prognosis for menigioma (which she was supposed to have the key sx for) they now think that that is what she may have... sigh.

I hope that Miles does okay. We will keep purring for him. We just love hearing about that wild boy so much and hate to think of you there with him worrying.

LOL to Mom Robyn (don't ya sort of wish she were there?!)

From the mom:

I am so sorry you are having these problems with Billy and Miles. As other kitties have pointed out, there seems to be no good reason for waiting 4 days for the blood draw, other than to insure another visit. Perhaps a discussion with the owner of the hospital or the office manager might help and even get them to drop the charges for today's visit. Just a thought ...

Victor Tabbycat said...

Miles, you is awsum. "Pee fest"! Dude! On the brite side, they got any urine samples they mite want!

Sorry - NOT funny. ::snicker:: To see a more sperienced vet, you has to go back... would they charge anofur visit fee fur that? I fink our vet lady wouldn't, but she's nefur needed a 2nd opinion (Bonnie gaf her opinion freely). She'd eifur call in anofur vet in the bilding or haf us return but not charge.
Hope yur Mom don't mind Nina lickin the bed slats, long as we's all unner here purrin wif you. She licks wood. And me. Does that mean my head is made of wood?
(Monty Python quote: So she's made of wood, and therefore... a witch!)

Miles did you tell the VET that you ated the chocolate the other day?????
If not Ithinksyou should go straight back to the VET and tell them, it sounds as if you has chocolate poisoning...

Cut and paste: Further problems which can arise from chocolate poisoning are Diuresis (increased urine production), diarrhea, lethargy, vomiting, depression, and muscle tremors. These are signs which must be recognized by any cat owner so that the cat is not fed too much chocolate.

AND:
Spotting the symptoms early on can be very beneficial and can give the cat a much better chance of surviving any poisoning which may have occurred.

There is lots and lots of information on the internet.. but what we is saying.. TELL YOUR VET YOU ATED CHOCOLATE!

Please get better fast Miles.. I iz a puuring for you!

Oh, oh! You may have chocolate poisoning? It sounds like it could also have been a small stroke? The vestibular disease sounds pretty much in the race too!

Oh Miles, we are so very sorry that you are suffering much like our Tucker is! I have to disagree about the FIP thing ... we've seen that too many times over the years and once it hits, it kills quickly. I can't imagine him suffering from it for months on end. We pray that your Miles also has an inner ear problem and it will soon be cleared up! We're facing unexpected bills as well and wondering how to pay them right here at Christmas! *sigh* Hugs and purrs to all of you too!

Everycat said...

Well done Miles for peeing on the vet, she sounds useless. Tesla and Hansel's Mom has a good point about vestibular disease. I think it's a really good idea to see the senior vet who may be able to cast an experienced diagnostic gaze further than FIP to something more common and treatable.

Best of luck Miles, we are sending you rumbly purrs

We're thinking and thinking about you and your family, Miles, and wanted to see how you're doing.

We, too, think the vestibular disease is something to consider. When Mr. Milky still lived with us he had the very same symptoms as Miles. Our vet thought he'd had a stroke, but my mom thought it might be an inner ear problem. She has an inner ear problem called Meniere's Disease and it causes those very same symptoms (well, except for peeing on the vet!)

Just keep in your mind that Mr. Milky got completely well, and with all the purrs & purrayers coming your way, you will, too, Miles!!

Purrs to all of you,
