The Power of Love - for sweet Shell

MeezerMomMary

I don't often post here on the boys blog, as I have my own, however I feel the need to post today.  If anyone ever doubts the power of unconditional love, or that it even exists, the story of Shell will prove that it is all powerful and very very real.  As owners, rescuers and lovers of any furbaby, we enter into the relationship knowing that we will have to suffer the horrible pain of loss at some time.  It could be 18 1/2 years in the future as it was with our sweet Trixie and Norton, or 12 years as it was with my Ralphie, or merely weeks as it was with beautiful Shell and the courageous MaryAnne.  I have followed their story since the beginning and have marveled at MA's courage and patience and was awed at the power of Shell's love for her, and her love for Shell.  Poor Shell had so many things to overcome, but something drove her to try to get better.  I think that Shell's purpose was to prove to people that no matter what an animal looks like or has been through, there is always a heart there and the capacity to forgive humankind any abuses they have suffered and give love unconditionally.

Sweet Shell, I never knew you but I will never forget you.  MA, there are not enough words to thank you for what you did for Shell, and what you have done for every other animal that has crossed your path.  You are truly a remarkable woman.

We were also so amazed at MaryAnne's commitment to sweet Shell and Shell's love back for her. That sweet kitty had so much to have to try to overcome. Now she is able to run free.

Your post brought tears to my eyes when I thought I'd shed them all today - it was so beautiful. It was a lovely tribute to Mary and Shell who had so much love for each other.
It is wonderful to think that dear Shell knew such love and gentle care in her final days of life - what a shame she was denied it before she met Mary.

That was a beautiful post for anyone who has ever taken in a cat who needed more than just a little extra care. We were so sad to learn about Shell

We were so sad when we read about Shell. We're glad she got to have love in her life and we agree that sometimes you have to look past the way a kitty looks and find the heart inside. Shell was a fighter and we're glad she had a chance.

We were so sorry to hear about Sweet Shell. We know MaryAnn gave her the greatest gift - first love, and then ultimately freedom from pain.

Beautiful post. Shell's story has touched me on such a deep level. And it's about what you say here...the unconditional love. Mary Anne is an angel for taking Shell home, helping her and loving her. And Shell to me was just an amazing little being to trust a human and want the affection of a human after what she had been through in her hard life. Blessings to both of them.

Beautiful. Even a moment's love and caring given to a little cat who has been thrown away by others is invaluable. Shell was loved and cared for thanks t her wonderful rescuer.

The easy part is feeling sad...but a part of my heart is happy. Happy that Shell found Momma MaryAnne and that she knew kindness and love and the sense of home that we all want. Her life was brief and hard, even with all the tender loving commitment from MaryAnne. We are so thankful that she took her into her heart and gave Shell all of these things that she deserved. We wish she had been able to make it to a very old age, but we are so happy to celebrate the life she had and the courage it took to live it.
