Me BILL!!!
Me went to torchur place and gotted STABBED.
Mommy tell you what torchur guy saided
Bill's infection is completely gone! His parasites in his belly are going away as well.
The v-e-t thinks that he probably has herpes in his eyes - his good eye waters all the time. He did say that I could give him lysine to help with that. His bad eye is not growing - it appears to be getting smaller as he grows. The v-e-t now thinks he may not have any sight in that eye.
Since the day I found him, he has gone from 3.3 pounds to 4.7 pounds. He's still underweight and very small for his age, but he seems to be thriving.
I now just have to find a way to get him to drink plain water. I don't know if he cannot see it, or if he just doesn't want to drink it. But he will not drink water without something else in it - like kitten milk replacement or the whiskas cat milk. I try and dilute it as much as possible. I have tried running water to see if he would drink that, but he won't go near it. So, I'm at a loss, any suggestions?
His hoo-ha-ectomy is scheduled for March 13.
BILL
what's a hoo-ha-ectomy?

Oh Little Bill, aren't you sweet. The stabby place is scary for sure, but they just want to make sure you feel better. Don't you worry one bit about that hoo-ha-ectomy. You won't even miss them.
Puuuuuuurrrrrrrrrssssssssssssss to you all!
Oh Bill, it's good yoo are doin so much better. I's sure it's cuz Miles snuggles wif yoo. hehehe
Meezer Mommy, my Mommy sez bout the waters... If he can't see the water, maybe try a little regular milk (just enough to tint the water) to see if that's the problem. If it is, maybe a white bowl for the water so it look s white would do it??? Food color might work, but I don't know if a cat will drink blue or green water at all. hehe
OK Mommy dat's enuf. I need to gif handsum Miles sum nosekissies.
PURRRRRRRRRS and nosekissies to my handsum Miles!

Hi,
Our pet human is a veterinary acupuncturist. She suggested these things:
Try putting a small amount of chicken broth in the water. Also she is one of those freaks who insists on organic chicken broth and never using tap water.
The other thing to help him would be giving him a small amount of a probiotic to help rebuild the good flora in his poor tiny gut from all the antibiotics. She uses the PB 8 brand. It comes in capsules which you can break open and sprinkle on his food. (Only a half of a half of capsule )
If you have any questions please let us know how to contact you and she would be happy to help.
Oh...she also likes to put a few drops of Rescue Remedy in our water to keep us calm. (tho i am not sure if it helps Nubi since he is crazy!)

Bill, you are just so cute!
We wanted to let you all know we're having a big clearance sale to raise funds for Project H.A.M. and for the Cat Blogosphere, if you want to let everyone know!
Rocky
What a brave little ginger tyke you are, Bill. Yeah, sometimes the v-e-t stabs us and takes away our hoo-hahs and steals our blood. You just gotta be a brave little mancat, buddy. And hey--maybe you'll have a cool pirate squint like the great ginger mancat Dante!
Your buddy, Jimmy Joe
Bill, it sounds like you are doing great! I am very proud of you because you gained almost 50% of your body weight. Keep it up!
At the shelter, they use Lysine to help control the herpes virus, too. You can just get regular human lysine tablets, and then grind it up into a powder in a little food processor (or just use a mortar and pestle). Just sprinkle some onto the wet food!
Oh Bill, I am so happy to hear that you are gaining weight! You are such a handsome little ginger boy!
Purrrrrrrs, China Cat
Bill ... you are a real cutie. We're so glad that you're gettin' better so quickly. Yay! Miles an' Sammy will take good care of you.
DMM
Meezer Momma ... Try puttin' Bill's water in a mug with some ice cubes in it.
Hi Bill...you are sooooooo cute!
Don't let your hoo-ha-ectomy scare you. You will be fine. Baby Jake will have his hoo-ha-ectomy in April.
HUGS~ Ernie's Voice, Chancy & Jake
hoo-ha-ectomys...they're special operations for good boy kitties, they make you extra sweet!
Don't be scared of it! You'll do fine. Sammy and Miles will tell you all about it!
You get cuter by the minute!
Bill you are one lucky little cat to have found that home. I am glad and not at all surprised that you are doing so well.
Oh Bill you is such a charmer!
Momma fell in love with you the minute she saw you...
We are so glad you is doing so much better!
Momma Astrid says:
As for the water drinking - both the boys won't drink any plain water in a bowl here. I made them a big water bowl with some stones and water plants in it and I do add some rescue drops as well. they love it and like to drink out of it. might work with Bill too...
We hope his eyes will get better soon!
purrrs and hugs

He's such a pretty color. A beautiful Ginger in training! We suggest stinky goodness only and no dry food. He will get more liquid in his system that way. Cat's need to drink more water than they normally would when they eat dry food.
Sweet Little Bill! We are glad you are getting better!
It will be good when all these vet visits are done with and you can just be a happy cat in a new home.
Hi Bill. glad to hear that you are doing so much better...I know that the v-e-t isn't fun to go to and that they stab you lots there, but once you are a healthy kitty (and have your hoo-ha-ectomy) you will feel so much better and you will forget all about the v-e-t until it is time to go again for some more stabs, but they're really short stabs that don't hurt much.
Daisymae Maus had the same idea momma had with the ice cubes! Maybe Bill would think they are toys and would drink some water if he plays with them! We are glad he is getting better and hope he does well with his hoo-ha-ectomy!
Purrs and headbutts,
Sabrina, Sam and Simon, and momma too!
Well done Bill on getting rid of that nasty infekkshun. You are growing well. We are sorry your eyes aren't so good, but we're sure you'll cope well anyway, and Sammy and Miles will take good care of you.
poor bill, a hoo ha ectomy.
I had a hoo hee ectomy.
Its a bit different. but not much. I also had a claw ectomy.
Oh, Bill. Such a bad beginning but now he's in a good home - and he's being torchured? We think he needs a new vet. One with no sharp instruments and lots of treats in hand.
Hugs, Jff
Bill, its great you are doing a lot better and really growing to be a fine ginger mancat-in-training!
I hope they get your eyes all fixed up soon.
Maybe if your beans show you your water dish and splash their fingers in it so that you can see what's in there you may want to take a drink. Water is yummy and I'm sure once you get a taste you'll want more.
Yay Bill that your infection is gone and your health is improving. Gaining over a pound in such a short time. I know you weren't getting regular meals before. Purrs.
Hi Bill,
You're doing so awesome! We tolded you that you hollered at the right lady ;)
Don't worry about having a hoo-ha-hectomy. We've all had them - you'll be just fine!
Meezer Mommy - have a wonderful first day at your new jobbie! You'll be in our thoughts!
Love,
Rocky, Angie, S'more, and our Mom, Karen
Little Dude, you totally do not want to know. ~Lando Bun
We were wondering if he had Herpes. We are furry familiar with that here! Give him 500mg L-lysine daily. Like Daisy said, you can buy the human tablets and crush them and sprinkle them on his food or mix it in.
Yeah, you could try a teensy bit of tuna juice, chicken broth, or clam juice to give the water some smell until he gets used to drinking it. We take it you don't have a fountain since you mentioned running the water? A fountain might help. Our guys love their fountain, although we know your budget is tight right now.
It's so good of you to take this little guy in.
We don't think Reno can see out of his right eye, and he startles easily, especially if something comes at him from that side. So if you find Bill reacting weird to the Meezers occasionally, or to your hand, that might be why.
Luf, Us
Hi there! Mom has a dumb question. Will Bill's eye fall out, if it keeps getting smaller? Other than that, we are all glad he is getting healthier. We hope your first day of work goes great and we will be thinking of you.
Roxy & Lucky & Mom
Hooray for you Bill! Gaining weight and getting rid of the infection and the parasites are great things. Mom says that she has known of some kitties who cannot see out of one or even both eyes and they are healthy and happy.
We have never had any problems drinking water so we do not have any suggestions. We kitties are all girls but we have heard that your surgery will be very easy.
Please tell your Mommy we are very happy for her to have her new job!
Hi Bill! We're sorry about your eyeball problem. Herpes is a fairly common cat thing though--that's what the cat eye doctor told my old bro Eddie. I have it and my sis Caroline has it, too--and she just loves loves loves that lysine in a tube (from the cat fix-it place). I don't like that at all but my eyeball thing stays pretty much under control.
we're so happy you're getting better! I HIGHLY recommend ice cubes in the water. yummy and fun at the same time. does your water smell funny? we know kitties who don't like the smell of tap water and only like bottled water.
Grr
We are sorry to hear about Bill's eyeball problem. Panda Bear had to have his right eye removed as a very young kitten due to calici virus, and his littermate Meerkat has scarring on her right eye. They are able to run and play and jump without hesitation. We will keep purring and purraying for all of you. Best wishes to Mom as she starts her new work thingy.
Padre, Panda Bear, and Meerkat
Bill I am so glad you are gaining weight and feeling better. Now you must drink your water...staying hydrated is very important. I especially like to drink the water out of that big tub thing when Meowm is in it.....but your Mom can't be in there all the time....so I guess taht isn't a very good suggestion.
I purrsonally like Astrid, Kashim and Othellos idea.
What you're doing with him and his water/milk seems fine, in time he'll start drinking more water I'm sure. He may want the milk as a way of helping build himself back up, it is after all a good source of calcium! :)
We're glad that Bill is getting better - we don't have any bright ideas to help out but lots of other smart kitties and bean have some good suggestions. We'll keep purraying that there is some way to help him keep some sight in his right eye, although we know that he would be able to get by with only one eye.

What great news for Bill! I'm so glad he is healing up. Way to go, you cute little ginger! Purrrrs!!!!!
::wavin' paws:: hi, li'l bill!! you is cuter an' cuter efurry day! we is glad you is gettin' better, an' are proud to see you gainin' weight an' playin'.
you meezer boys are the best big brofurs efur!
thanks so much, meezer fambly, for bein' "homeward angels" to that sweet tyke!! kisses 'n' purrs from all the meowers!
Sorry you had to go to the V-E-T! You're getting so big and handsome, soon you'll be able to just whap him!
Maybe Bill would drink low sodium Beef or Chicken broth. It has some color to it and it would smell good...
Bill - Don't worry about the ho-ha-ectomy. They just snip a little "fur" of yer rear end. It will feel a little funny fer a week, but ya will be a happier kitty afterwards!
I know,
Mancat Skeeter
Hi Bill! You're lookin' Great! You look so happy snugglin' wit Sammy and Miles too.
Ahhh Bill, you are one lucky guy. What a wonderful family you've joined. I am glad to hear that your getting better and better. Wait until you loose those hoo-has. Life will never be the same.
Tyler
You're getting better all the time, Bill, and we're glad to hear it. You're one gorgeous ginger who's going to have a better life than you could have dreamed when you were all alone in the world.
The only two suggestions I have for water is getting a fountain so that the water is moving and he can hear it as well as see it. I have used a drinkwell fountain for years. Some of my cats drink from the bowl part and some drink from the "spout". I've also heard of putting a ping pong in the water bowl so that he can judge the depth. With one eye bad, he doesn't have good or any depth perception.
