Ok, so when I go to our brekfest dishes in the morning, I haf been doing somefing a little weird maybe. Mommy gifs Miles his food ferst, 'cause he's, well, Miles, and he would cry and carry on if he didn't get his foods ferst. While she is dishing my food up, I walk around Miles and stick my nose, well, somewhere not polite on Miles. Mommy laughs and asks me if I'm waiting to see if the food shoots straight out of him as soon as he swallows it. After I do this, then I go and eat my brekfest.
I don't know why I does it, but I does.

Sammy, my mom is laughing too. I'm not quite sure why. My humans always push my bum away when I present it to them to sniff, so I just think humans are weird.
Hm. We don't check out butts at that time, we are usually too focussed on mommy to make sure she gives us the food!
However, we *love* checking out each other's butts all the time, but esp if we have since each other in a long time....like 5 mins!!

Maybe you are checking to make sure it's really Miles and not some imposter who snuck in during the night. See, if it were not really Miles, then you could pounce him and take his food. That's what I think, anyway.
It is strange but just one of those odd foibles us cats have. Mao is FOREVER sniffing my bum. I think he just wants to know what a normal bum should smell like. xx

we got lotsa mutual butt sniffing before food going on here too. actually, we sniff butts around the food more than we do at any other time.
Sniffin' buns is a good way to make sure that your brothers/sisters haven't been replaced by feline robots ... Gotta be sure!

Don't tell, but Bonnie does that to me, too. She doesn't want to touch me or get my atension, but she wants to check out my tail scent, so if I's gots my backside to her, she takes a whiff.
